500 Hours Yoga Teachers Training Course is an advanced course and you can choose to complete your 200 hours yoga teachers training course and 300 hours yoga teachers training course back to back. At the end of the 2 months, you will be a fully qualified 500 hours yoga teacher.

The 500 Hours Yoga Teachers Training Course is a big commitment and devoting that much time purely to practice and study can be daunting. For this reason, we ask that you only undertake the 500 hours yoga teachers training course if you have been practicing asana for at least 1 year prior.

In 500 Hours Yoga Teachers Training Course, you will develop a thorough understanding of traditional yogic texts. You have the opportunity to practice asana, pranayama, meditation, kriyas, mantra, and mudras. Through your practice, you will start to develop a deeper understanding of the techniques and skill involved, both with the practice and teaching of yoga. In the first month, during your 200 hours yoga teachers training course, you will focus primarily on anatomy, physiology and teaching methodology. In the second month, your 300 hours yoga teachers training course, we dive deep into yoga philosophy and unravel some of the intricacies of teaching, including sequencing and adjustments.

500 Hours Yoga Teachers Training Course Outline

The 500 hours are divided between the following subjects:

We aim to provide you with a full and diverse experience of yogic living. With this in mind, our courses are founded on the 4 streams of yoga. Your asana/meditation practice constitutes Raja Yoga, the yoga of discipline and practice. Theory classes help you to develop in Jnana Yoga, the yoga of knowledge. Bhakti Yoga, the yoga of love and devotion, is practiced through kirtan (a musical form of shared recitation) and Satsang (coming together as a community). The act of selfless service known as Karma Yoga is encouraged daily in our space.

Includes the practice of asana, pranayama, meditation and chanting, and the opportunity to experience shatkarmas (yogic cleansing techniques). Work on your personal practice while developing a greater understanding of these intricate techniques.

Discover the art of teaching, teaching styles and observation/correction.

A study of both human anatomy and energetic anatomy (nadis, chakras etc), with direct application to yoga practice.

Study of traditional texts, yogic lifestyle, and how to be of service to others as a teacher.

Before the end of the course you will teach a class under the supervision of a senior teacher, with feedback provided. Volunteering as a teacher is possible after your 500 hours yoga teachers training course (YTTC).

Daily Schedule

Classes run from Monday to Saturday, from approximately 6:30 am to 6:30 pm. During this time you will be engaged in a mixture of practical and theoretical classes, with breaks at meal times. Saturday is a half day of classes and Sunday is your day off. Please use this time to relax, restore and enjoy the local area. Throughout the week, in your free time, you are expected to engage in karma yoga – the act of selfless service. This could be in the form of sweeping the yoga shala, clearing plates or generally assisting around the school. We believe the practice of karma yoga helps you to experience yogic living holistically. For an example schedule from our last teacher training, please email namaste@yogayugas.com.
